Distorted Images? Images do not apear, Might be the CCD

by Peter 9. May 2010 17:29

Images apear to be distorted – Images do not apear – Might be the CCD

What is the CCD ?
A Charge Coupled Device (CCD) is an integrated circuit etched onto a silicon surface forming light sensitive elements called pixels. Photons incident on this surface generate charge that can be read by electronics and turned into a digital copy of the light patterns falling on the device. CCDs come in a wide variety of sizes and types and are used in many applications from cell phone cameras to high-end scientific applications.

The LCD has color, but just lines and smogs of color.....no forms!

Why does it fail ?
The CCD problems are the ones responsible for causing images to be distorted or to not appear at all. CCD (image sensor) failures, particularly in conditions of high heat and humidity, led to cameras capturing images with either no picture at all, or with extreme distortion and severe purple or green color casts. Many times this is due to the internal wiring that may come undone in some areas of the CCD when the camera is under high temperature or high humidity environments.

What does the problem look like?

The problem can appear in several forms, yet all involve severe color shifts and/or severe distortions of the image. Below are two examples of what the problem might look like, if your camera displays this problem. In the beginning of the problem, the camera may still capture recognizable images, but with a washed-out appearance and a strong magenta(reddish pink) or green tint.

A faulty CCD will display the following problems:

Camera Story Contest - Great entries

by Peter 6. May 2010 18:32

Teleplan Camera Repair Contest is a Great Success!

We have received great entries for the Teleplan Camera Repair Contest on Photography Review which continues to show us the colorful personalities of camera lovers!

Cameras and the funny things that happen with and around them really do bring people of many nations closer!

Teleplan Camera Repair Contest on Photography Review has received so many entries it was very hard choosing some to share here.

To register in the contest you are required to submit a short camera story. The stories we are receiving are quite funny, odd and at times moving too! Camera people have a way of recognizing each other and that is what allows us to ask total strangers to take a picture of us anywhere in the world, whether you speak the language or not! Just point to that little button they are supposed to press and voila! The most interesting part of this encounter is that when they hand you the camera back, most people generally stick around to see if the picture was ok, and if you want another one! (say cheese!)

Did you already enter the contest?

Enjoy some of the entries that most certainly camera lovers like you will relate to:

Aha moments –
“Took forever to figure out why the camera took terrible pictures inside.  I had my finger partially over the flash every time I took a picture.  Figured out the right way to hold the camerCamera Repaira and the pictures drasically improved.  Amazing what a little light will do for a picture.”

L.S. Arizona - Kodak Z760

Cameras bringing people closer -
“I was visiting NC from Idaho, we were at some waterfall/ hiking area. I stopped and asked a gentleman to take a picture of me and my brothers’ family. When he was done we stayecamera repaird and talked for a minute. Turns out he was originally from our area in Idaho and....his last name was the same as ours! Turns out he was a cousin to my husbands’ grandpa! Crazy! What are the odds! All thanks to my camera!”
C.S. Wyoming – Olympus C5500

Cameras adding to our lives - camer repair
“I love my camera. It takes great pictures, though they can be a little blurry and out of focus. It's kind of hard to keep my hand steady, but it's worth it. My best pictures have been of scenery, especially of the mountains where I live. My camera really makes my day.”
L.H. Colorado - Casio Exilim

We look forward to announcing the contest winner! All entries must be submitted by May 20, 2010.

CHA Error Message

by Administrator 30. March 2010 10:11

Nikon Camera Repair

The CHA ERROR shows up in the Nikon D200, Nikon D300, Nikon D70 and others.

It means that your NIKON DSLR, Nikon D200/D300 can't communicate with the flash card memory controller, basically it is the equivalent to an ERROR 02 in Canon. The Nikon Cha error in these cameras does not go away by powering off and on.  It would not allow you to take any pictures at the time this happens any time or intermittent when you can take pictures normally  a while  but when the error appears you need turns off the camera and turn it on again in order to have it enable again.
Also in NIKON cameras the error code could be permanent or intermittent. A permanent error would not allow you to take pictures at any time. An intermittent error would allow you to take pictures normally for a while but when the error appears you would need to turn the camera off and on again, in order to have it enabled again.

Here are some basic solutions to this Nikon error code;

  • Use a Nikon-approved CF card
  • Check that contacts are clean
  • Delete files or insert new memory card.
  • Format memory card, the data in CF could be corrupted.

If the ERROR continues to appear, the camera needs to be serviced. In many cases the pins in the slot are damaged due to the constant use and the camera cannot recognize the CF card. Another possible reason is that the memory card compression circuit is not operating correctly, so camera repair is needed in order to have a deep diagnosis to pinpoint and correct the problem.
