Halfway Focus problem on Sony Cybershot DSC-H1 , DSC-H2, DSC-H5

by Grace 21. July 2010 04:23

The halfway focus problem is quite frequent on the Sony DSC-H1, Sony DSC- H2 and Sony DSC-H5.

Basically the feature that allowed you to halfway press the shutter button for an initial focus does not work anymore. Pressing the shutter button halfway no longer works. Many do report that going ahead with the picture generally produces a picture that is focused, however, that enjoyable feature is not working.

This happens when you are unable to get the focus preview by pressing the shutter button halfway.
The cause is due to the shutter button that is broken or the block control assembly (switch block control top).

This is the mechanism that allows you to pressure the shutter button to take a picture. This requires a part replacement.

To repair this issue the camera needs to be completely open, disassembled and the broken parts replaced.

While there are several workarounds posted on the internet we often receive cameras where some have attempted to fix this and ultimately have damaged other parts in the camera.
